The mission of Independent Cattlemen of Missouri (I.C.O.M.) has been established to actively promote policy that will have a beneficial effect on the viability of independent cattle producers for present and future generations. This will be accomplished by promoting profitability for independent producers by working for open and competitive markets, while promoting fair trade policies, protection from burdensome regulations while protecting the environment we live in. Promoting local economic development through cattle production for long term stability and growth of our local communities, for the best interests of our beef consuming customers.
Independent Cattlemen of Missouri believes American cattle producers deserve to have their product differentiated in the marketplace. American consumers deserve to be able to make informed decision about who they want to support with their buying power. We think the USA label should mean that it is Born, Raised, and Processed in the USA.
At Independent Cattlemen of Missouri, we understand the unique challenges that cattle producers face. That's why we promote policy that will help cattle producers grow and thrive by truthful and transparent labeling of beef.
No, currently imported beef just has to be repackaged or blended with domestic beef to get the USA label. So, there is no way to know what country it comes from.
